At Church of the Good Shepherd, we are committed to reaching out to our community with the love of Christ. We are serious about providing food, clothing, and shelter for the poor; healing the sick; caring for widows and orphans; and especially serving in simple ways like giving “a cup of cold water” to the thirsty in Jesus’ name (Matthew 10:42). For we believe that even small, seemingly insignificant, acts of services can be taken and used by Jesus to make huge differences in peoples’ lives.
In the past couple years, our members have been involved in building projects and disaster relief with God’s Pit Crew, as well as blanket drives and food for the homeless through the Lynchburg Daily Bread. In addition, we have a monthly ministry to the poor at Parkview Community Mission-Food Bank. We also administer a Benevolence Fund which has accounted for up to 10% of our budget in the past.
