The prayer ministry at Church of the Good Shepherd offers two avenues for the laity to either enter into praying for others or to receive prayer from a prayer minister.
The first avenue is during communion on Sunday mornings. Two assigned prayer ministers are available to pray for the needs of individuals after they have received the Eucharist.
The second opportunity is through the ministry of inner healing prayer, which is offered by trained prayer ministers at prearranged appointment times lasting one and a half to two hours.
Jesus tells us in Luke 4:18 that He has ome to "heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recoverying of sight to the blind (and) to set at liberty those who are oppressed."
Inner healing is a prayer opportunity to ask Jesus to heal the ways in which our hearts have been imjured by past hurts, to break bondages we find ourselves trapped by and unable to break free of in our own strength, and to lift oppression that has come to us because of our own sinful choices. It is a gentle, non-judgmental process in which we seek Jesus to guide us, speak to us, and heal us in ways only He can.
